Rolls-Royce reveals Ghost's figures

21 July 2009

Rolls-Royce has confirmed the Ghost's high-performance pedigree, ahead of its unveiling at the Frankfurt motor show in September.

Powered by a 563bhp 6.6-litre turbocharged V12 engine, Rolls-Royce's 'affordable' new model will have a limited top speed of 155mph and a 0-62mph time of just 4.7 seconds. Power is delivered to the wheels by an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

A true Rolls-Royce
All-round adaptive air suspension keeps the performance in check, to ensure the Ghost's dynamics fit with the company's core values of optimum refinement and comfort.

Rolls-Royce director of engineering, Helmut Riedl, said: 'First and foremost the Ghost is a Rolls-Royce. This means that despite its extraordinary performance figures it, has been engineered for effortless composure and refined power delivery.

'The Ghost is about fingertip control while still enjoying a dynamic connection with the road. Our chassis keeps the Ghost stable and flat, preventing it from wallowing or pitching in the corners or imposing undesirable forces on those inside.'

Ghost-like silence will also be central to the new Rolls-Royce, with the engine, tyres and exhaust specially engineered to be as quiet as possible, both internally and externally.

The Ghost costs from £165,000 and deliveries will begin later this year.
