This is the most up-to-date model in Rover’s stable and is the best car the company has to offer.
Rover hasn’t revealed prices for next February’s 75 but, if the 25 and 45 are anything to go by, it certainly shouldn’t increase from the current starting point of £16,995.
From next year, all cars will be fitted with a curtain airbag system. This feature was not standard when the car was crash-tested by Euro NCAP and was the only reason it missed out on the top five-star rating.
All models will also get front and rear electric windows and a leather-trimmed gear knob. All, bar the entry-level Classic, will also be fitted with SmartNav, which provides real-time traffic information for motorways and main routes as well as satellite navigation.
Connoisseur models are likely to still cost from around £18,695 but will come with leather upholstery, heated front seats and electrically folding door mirrors.
The 75 may be Rover’s best car, but it's currently available with huge discounts of around 20%. Look for bigger savings from dealers looking to clear stocks before February 2005, and then keep an eye on the What Car? Target Price to see how much you should aim to pay for the cars after that.
