Choosing a sat-nav can be a real headache - there are so many products, prices and features to choose from.
We put 30 units through their paces to find out which are the best and which to cross off your wish-list.
Our tests focused on the quality and clarity of the mapping, on-screen information and spoken instructions. The units were marked on ease of use, cradle design and the screen's ability to handle glare.
We also considered price and features, because satellite-navigation isn't just about getting you from A to B these days. There are loads of extra features available to make your journeys less hassle and more entertaining.
Bluetooth connectivity, for example, allows you to use your sat-nav as a hands-free mobile phone kit.
Traffic monitoring (TMC) gives you up-to-date information about congestion on your route.
FM transmitters allow you to listen to spoken instructions and alerts through your car radio.
Some units also come with MP3 players and picture viewers - one even doubled as a digital camera.
All of the sat-nav systems we tested come with a touch screen and speed camera warnings either integrated or available as a download.
We've split the test into three price bands - under £150, £150 to £250 and £250 and above.
