For Looks good and the menus are quick.
Against Dreadful cradle.
Verdict Great navigation, but let down by a useless cradle.

We found navigating the menus and choosing a destination fast and simple, and the maps were clear easy to follow. The voice commands were up there with the best, too.

So why didn't the Snooper finish higher? Mostly because of its cradle, which was one of the worst we tested.

In fact, it was the only one of the 30 on test that fell off during testing, which it did on several occasions.

The adjustments didn't lock well, either, and this meant the Syrius wobbled around before its inevitable leap onto the driver's lap after about 15 minutes on the road.

At least the Snooper's gloss black finish and silver surround gave it a classy look. We'd leave it in the car, though, as it didn't feel particularly rugged.

Bluetooth comes as standard on the Syrius, as does a bright 4.3-inch screen, but it does miss out on traffic monitoring and European maps as standard.
