Sat-navs tested: £150-£250 - 7th: Becker Traffic Assist 7926

Becker Traffic Assist 7926

Best Price £205.90 (Activegps.co.uk)
For Good-looking maps and clearly spoken instructions.
Against Hefty price-tag and poor specification.
Verdict Classy unit, but overpriced.

We liked the Becker for its well designed maps, excellent spoken instructions and classy, brushed metal casing. We weren't so keen on the price, though.

If the Becker was £70 cheaper, it would give the 'Under £150' units a run for their money. At £200, however, it doesn't have enough to trouble the leaders in this budget.

The 7926 comes with an MP3 player, but misses out on European maps, Bluetooth connectivity and traffic monitoring as standard. It also makes do with a 3.5-inch screen.

We found the Becker slow to respond to commands and to keep up with the car on many occasions.

We didn't find the menus easy to navigate, either, but the cradle was better than most in the budget.
