For A great navigator with super-quick menus.
Against Dingy menus aren't easily visible in bright sunshine.
Verdict A great unit, but the winners in the over £250 category aren't much more expensive.

If you've got a maximum of £250 to spend, there's not much to compete with the Clarion's all-round abilities.

The software was almost identical to that used in Mio systems - see Mio C220 (Under £150 category) and Mio C520t (Over £250 category) - which meant the MAP670 was super-quick, easy to use and was one of the best navigators in any budget.

Thankfully, the cradle was much better than the one that blighted the MAP370 (under £150 category), and the 670 also seemed made of higher quality plastics.

Our only gripe was that the menus were rather dark in colour. That's fine when the sun wasn't shining, but they were hard to read when it was.

Your £237 gets you Bluetooth connectivity and a crystal-clear 4.3-inch screen. However, the Clarion does miss out on European maps as standard.

So, while the MAP670 is a clear winner in this budget, we'd do our best to find the extra £25 or £35 for the Mio C520t (Over £250 category) or TomTom Go 720 (Over £250 category).
