AvMap Geosat 5 BLU e
Best Price £355.50 (Techno-shop.co.uk)
For Big screen and quick menus.
Against High price, bulky and poorly designed maps.
Verdict Very expensive and not very good.
In size, the Geosat has more in common with a small television than a portable sat-nav, weighing in at a whopping 402 grammes.
On a positive
note, it came with a good five-inch display, and the system was quick to respond to commands.
Everything else, though, was poor.
The Geosat seems extremely expensive when compared to the other units on test, and doesn't come with traffic monitoring as standard.
We didn't find it easy to use, either, mainly due to a poor menu design and address entry system.
The maps didn't move fluently across the screen and were difficult to follow in either 2D or 3D mode.
The connection between the cradle and the sat-nav was the worst we've come across, too.
If it's a big screen you're after, the
Panasonic Strada (£150-£250 category) and
RAC 220 (Over £250 category) also have five-inch screens and are much better.
