For Easy-to-follow, detailed maps,
Against Tinny speaker and sombre voices.
Verdict Expensive, considering it's not up there with the best.

The S90i comes with all the gadgets you'd expect a unit to have with a price tag of £275 - you get European maps, Bluetooth connectivity, traffic monitoring (free for life) and even a two-megapixel digital camera.

We liked the S90i's map design and detail, and found the menus and address input very straightforward.

The cradle was easy to attach to the windscreen and set to the correct angle, although we weren't keen on its flimsy connection to the device.

As with the cheaper Navman S30 (under £150 category), we found the S90i's built-in speaker tinny and the spoken voice dreary.

It was difficult to fault the instructions for timing or accuracy, though.

The S90i wasn't as good as the TomTom and Mio in any area, but that was more to do with the brilliance of the top two than any significant flaws in the Navman.
