Mio C520t
Best Price £260.99 (Globalpositioningsystems.co.uk)
For Super-quick, easy to use and has excellent mapping.
Against Doesn't feel very robust.
Verdict Almost on a par with the TomTom 720.
This system runs the TomTom close for first place, but eventually loses out to the 720's mighty all-round abilities.
It costs a tenner less to buy, though, and comes with traffic monitoring, which would cost you around £30 extra on the TomTom.
The mapping was excellent, and the larger screen size over the
Mio C220 (Under £150 category) allowed plenty of space for a useful information bar.
This took up about a third of the screen, and could be used to list the next few turns on our route, nearby points of interest, or useful statistics, such as the distance remaining and estimated time of arrival.
We found the C520t child's play to use, and the menus extremely quick.
The unit was lightweight and nicely finished, although we doubt it would stand up to being dropped or bashed as well as some of the units on test, especially the TomTom 720.
