For Easy to use and a great cradle.
Against The maps aren't particularly easy to follow and the robotic spoken voice is annoying.
Verdict Does a good job of getting you where you want to go, but there are better units that cost less to buy.
The Nuvi 200 is light and compact - even the cradle would fit easily in a coat pocket.
We found the menus very straightforward and choosing a destination was easy, although to make postcode entry much simpler, we'd rather see letters and numbers displayed on the same screen.
The cradle was ideal, and made a mockery of some of the cumbersome offerings from the likes of Magellan and Binatone - it was small, attached well to the windscreen and adjusted easily without having to loosen and tighten an array of knobs and switches.
In built-up areas, the Garmin's maps did look a bit like an abstract painting, with brightly coloured roads filling the relatively small screen.
That sometimes made it difficult to work out which road we were on, and where we needed to go next.
The spoken instructions were clear, though, and gave us plenty of notice before turnings, but the Dalek-style voice did grate after a while.
