For Well designed maps and on-screen instructions.
Against Voice instructions are gloomy and the in-built speaker is tinny.
Verdict A fine navigator, but not the complete package.

The Navman's maps, on-screen instructions and menu system were up there with the best.

The menus are intuitive and simple to work out, and we found choosing a destination was quick and hassle-free.

The S30 wasn't one of the speediest units, though. The maps looked great and there was loads of detail, but the maps' movement across the screen was jerky while driving - especially when compared with the Mio or TomTom.

The occasional long pauses when flicking through the menus frustrated us, too.

The no-frills cradle worked well and was easy to adjust, but we weren't keen on its flimsy connection to the device.

The spoken instructions were easy-to-follow, but we found the monotone voices gloomy and the in-built speaker rather tinny.
