For Loads of features and very well made.
Against Maps are poor and the interface isn't particular user-friendly.
Verdict A lot for your money, but there are far better navigators out there.
The X-970T comes packed with features, and is the only unit in the sub-£150 budget to come with either Bluetooth or traffic monitoring.
Places of interest are much more detailed than on most devices, and choosing a local restaurant is made easy thanks to ViaMichelin ratings.
So as a piece of kit, the ViaMichelin is very desirable. As a sat-nav to get you from A to B, however, it isn't too hot.
We found the menus difficult to understand, and the maps were poorly designed and jerky on the move.
The spoken directions also became annoying, especially in built-up areas.
The sound quality was good, but instructions such as 'at the roundabout, follow the roundabout' left us wondering which way to turn.
The cradle was huge, but looked good. We found it solid, too, and adjustments to the unit's angle were easy, but it did take a while to screw onto the windscreen.
