If there's anything the C4 Picasso can't do, we've yet to find it. Comfortable, spacious, economical: it's good enough to have been our favourite MPV for the past two years.

The clever seating system is flexible, allowing the two rear seats to fold flat into the boot floor, while the middle row slides back and forth allowing adjustments to boot space or legroom.

Even with the rearmost seats in use, decent luggage space is still available. The large windscreen and side windows ensure a decent view from all seats so the family shouldn’t get too bored on long journeys, while the smooth ride and excellent cabin insulation from road noise helps motorway miles pass with ease.

For a smaller slice of Citroën practicality, the C3 Picasso is a chip off the older C4's block.

You get the same quality and flexibility, as well as this five-seater's extra dash of avant-garde styling.

It's only a little bigger than some superminis, but the interior is spacious and the boot impressive. The rear bench seat not only split-folds 40/60, but will slide forwards and back to favour either legroom or boot space.
