Seat's green brand – Ecomotive – is getting bigger.
Three new Ecomotive models will be shown at the Frankfurt motor show next week – all-new versions of the Altea and Altea XL, and an updated version of the Leon Ecomotive.
Latest diesel engine
All three new Ecomotive models use the same engine – the latest VW Group 1.6-litre 104bhp turbodiesel with common-rail fuel injection.
They have a display that indicates the most efficient point to change gear and a system that recovers energy when the driver lifts off the throttle or uses the brakes. Low-friction tyres also cut down on drag, and therefore fuel consumption.
The Altea and Altea XL both emit 119g/km of CO2, but the Leon goes further, thanks to the addition of an engine start-stop system that lowers emissions to just 99g/km.
All three new models are due to go on sale early in 2010. Prices have yet to be confirmed.
