What?: Peugeot 207 When?: Summer 2006
How much?: From £7500 (est)
Judging by the spy photographs we've seen of the 207 it'll be just as good looking as the 206. The old model continues alongside the new for some time as a budget option.
What?: Vauxhall Corsa When?: September 2006
How much? From £7500 (est)
The new Corsa is based around the same platform as the Fiat
Grande Punto, so expect a big car. Three-door models will have far more coupe-like styling to please younger buyers.
What?: Mini
When?: Late 2006
How much?: From £11,500 (est)
Don't expect the next Mini to look radically different to the current car. The existing 1.6-litre petrol engine is one of the most disappointing aspects of today's car, so it's good news that an all new powerplant has been developed.
What?: Nissan Note When?: February 2006
How much?: From £11,000 (est)
The Note is built around the Renault Modus, but it has a longer wheelbase for added room inside the cabin. Overall, it's even longer than a Fiat Grande Punto but, with young families in mind, it's still easy to drive
What?: Volkswagen Fox
When?: February 2006
How much?: From £6500 (est)
Five-door versions of the Fox are sold in other parts of the world, but UK buyers will only get the option of a three-door model. Pick from 54bhp 1.2- and 74bhp 1.4-litre petrols or a 1.4-litre turbodiesel producing 74bhp.
