Subject Mobile repairers
Be wary of using small, mobile bodywork repair firms. They may be inexpensive, but in my experience the repairs aren't always of a decent standard.

I was quoted £70 for fixing two small dings. It was supposed to take three hours on my driveway, but it took a lot longer and the final result looked a mess.

I ended up going to a bodywork specialist, which cost me £380, but the paintwork looks as good as new.

Subject A proper car wash
I really go to town when I clean my car. Although it takes some time, I think it really pays off in the long run, because it preserves the paintwork and keeps the car looking great.

I use the hand jetwash that has the integral shampoo and conditioner. I polish it with the rotary polisher, glaze, seal and wax. I then use a microfibre cloth to wipe it down.

Subject Car cleaning
Always keep you car in good condition, because it'll pay off in the end. I use the automated car wash regularly and twice a year I get it valeted.

I drive a Mercedes, and Merc dealers provide a free valet after every service, which is very handy.

Name Joel Sciamma
Subject Car cleaning
I think the best way to clean your car is with a jet wash that uses recycled water.

I give it a thorough clean this way and the results are good - it rarely leaves drying marks. It's also a good way of doing your bit for the environment.

Subject Wiper blades
You don't always need to replace wiper blades when they start to smear the windscreen.

Simply clean the blades with glass cleaner or vinegar and they'll be good as new. Also, simply rubbing the outside of the windscreen with a newspaper (one that leaves ink on your hands) gets it clean.

Subject Retaining value
Keep you car for several years before changing it. Also make sure that you get it serviced regularly, because missed services can seriously affect a car's future value.
