Volkswagen Up 1.0 75 High Up 3dr
Week ending September 20
Total mileage 10602
Driven this week 303 miles
As I’ve mentioned, the Up! is soon to go back, and it seems some of my colleagues have enjoyed having it around so much they’re interested in buying one themselves.
Having been on the market for over a year, there are hundreds of Ups advertised for sale online and it looks like the fantastic retained values predicted by our experts are holding strong.
The one-year, 12,000 miles figure for my 3dr High Up stands at 75%, which means mine will be worth around £8,200. Looking at the used market, this is true, and in many cases, that desirable badge is seeing dealers try their luck and advertise higher.
The good news for those buying one used is that my car will be worth 50% of its list price two years on at three years and 36,000 miles - that’s among the strongest in the class.

It’s hard to believe our time with the Up is coming to end soon – time has flown. So fast, in fact, that I had completely forgotten the Up was approaching its first service until this week.
Thankfully, booking in the car in with Twickenham Volkswagen was easily done over the phone, although the online booking would make things even simpler.
Our car isn’t on VW’s three-year service plan, but we’d recommend shelling out the £249 Service plan option that covers your services for the first three years or 30,000 miles.
Even so, apart from some wear on the front tyres, there was nothing else to worry about and the final bill came to a reasonable £114.66.
Considering I was contacted at least twice beforehand, the work was done in a matter of hours and they cleaned the car, I’m very happy.
