Six million cars from Nissan Sunderland

20 January 2011

Nissan has now built more than six million cars at its Sunderland factory.

It reached the milestone this month and looks set to be the most productive car factory in the UK for the 14th year in a row by the end of 2011.

Last year the factory built nearly one in five of all cars manufactured in the UK. In total, 423,262 rolled off the line – made up of the Note, Juke, Micra and Qashqai – with 81% exported to overseas markets.

In 2013, it will start production of the all-electric Leaf.
