Skoda VisionC five-door coupe concept revealed

The Skoda VisionC concept has been official unveiled at the Geneva motor show.

The five-door coupe concept sits on the VW Group's new MQB platform, and it is sized to sit between the Octavia hatchback and the five-door Superb.

As a result of this, Skoda claims that the VisionC has a large hatchback boot, although it has not yet announced how large the carrying capacity is. Instead, the firm has just said the car provides 'plenty of room for four people and their luggage'.

The space on offer is likely to be smaller than in the huge Octavia hatch, with some practicality sacrificed for the VisionC's stylish lines.

The show car has been fitted with a 1.4-litre 108bhp engine that runs on compressed natural gas and petrol, which is not offered in Skoda's car range in the UK. Skoda says that this engine results in CO2 emissions of 91g/km. A similar setup in the Octavia estate produces 97g/km.

If the VisionC is to go on sale, then a production-ready concept would be likely to appear in spring 2015.
