Suzuki's Splash mini-MPV will cost from £8999 when it goes on sale in March.

The car is available with an 85bhp 1.2-litre petrol engine or a 75bhp 1.3-litre diesel.

With the standard five-speed manual gearbox, the petrol model's average fuel consumption is 51.4mpg and carbon dioxide emissions are 131g/km.

Linked to the optional four-speed automatic, the petrol model manages 47.9mpg. Carbon dioxide figures for the auto version, which arrives later this year, are not yet available.

The diesel-engined car manages 62.8mpg and emits 120g/km of carbon dioxide. It comes with a manual gearbox only.

Entry-level GLS models have electric front windows, remote central locking, air-conditioning, a CD player, stability control, six airbags and a leather-covered steering wheel with audio controls.

GLS+ adds 15-inch alloy wheels, front foglamps and privacy glass on the rear side and back windows.
