Star car: Volkswagen Polo - Ride and handling

20 March 2009
Ride and handling
The extra body stiffening that's made all this possible is said to have beneficial effects for both refinement and handling. As with the new Golf, there's also been a big effort to drive up perceived quality, with more tactile plastics, white instead of blue backlighting for the instruments, and aluminium highlights throughout the cabin.

New options for the Polo include cornering lights intergrated into the front foglamps, touch-screen sat-nav with Bluetooth phone connection, an air-conditioned glovebox and a panoramic sunroof.

VW says there will be 'no more than four' trim options for the UK but, what they'll be called, what features will come as standard and how much you'll have to pay are decisions being left in abeyance in the current economic climate and plummeting pound-euro exchange rates. The best guesstimate, for now, is 'a small increase' on current prices.
