Stunning BMW coupe revealed - Introduction

21 April 2006
Saloon, touring, coupe, convertible… BMW treads a well worn path when introducing variants of its top-selling 3 Series.

We've already got the saloon and touring (estate) versions of the latest range. In September they'll be joined by the new coupe.

As our exclusive pictures show (click the more pictures link on the right), there's a greater difference between the coupe and saloon than with any previous 3 Series - not a single external panel is interchangeable.

Mechanically, the coupe has its moments of exclusivity, too. It introduces a new 306bhp twin-turbo 3.0-litre straight-six engine and a revised six-speed automatic gearbox option.

Other engines at launch are all in-line six-cylinder units – 2.5/218bhp, 3.0/272bhp and 3.0 turbodiesel/231bhp. Prices will span £28,090 to £33,420. Four-cylinder 2.0-litre petrol and turbodiesel units will be added later.
