Subaru Impreza will return to the UK

  • Subaru Impreza gets a 1.6-litre non-turbo engine
  • All-wheel drive as standard
  • On sale from 1 May, priced from £17,495

The new Subaru Impreza will go back on sale in the UK from May 2014.

The Impreza RC will be the only model offered and will feature a 1.6-litre non-turbo engine that produces 112bhp and 111 lb ft of torque. Like its predecessors, the latest car will use a four-cylinder horizontally-opposed Boxer engine.

There is a choice of two transmissions; either a five-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission (CVT) option. With the manual gearbox fitted, the Impreza does 0-62mph in 12.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 114mph. The CVT version manages the 0-62mph dash in 12.6 seconds and goes on to a top speed of 111mph.

The official fuel economy figure for the standard Impreza RC is 44.1mpg along with CO2 emissions of 147g/km. The CVT version is more efficient, returning 46.3mpg and 140g/km.

The Subaru Impreza RC is the only small family car to feature AWD as standard. The RC also comes equipped with engine stop-start, 16-inch alloys, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, front foglights, heated door mirrors, a windscreen wiper de-icer system and daytime running lights.

Inside the cabin, the Impreza RC gets eight airbags, dual-zone air-conditioning, reversing camera, heated front seats, 60/40 split-fold rear seats, plus USB and aux-in sockets. A Pioneer sat-nav system is optional.

The car comes in a choice of three colours: white, silver and blue. The five-speed manual model is priced from £17,495 and the CVT version will cost from £18,995.
