Subaru will add a one-litre, five-door supermini to its range at the end of this year.
The Justy name will be revived for the car, which will be a restyled Daihatsu Sirion. It will be aimed at environmentally aware buyers looking for a town car.
The previous Justy model was based on a Suzuki Swift with four-wheel drive fitted.
No prices have been released for the Justy, which will be shown in public for the first time at the Frankfurt motor show in September.
Subaru will also exhibit its face-lifted Tribeca at the show. The car has new front and rear-end styling plus a larger - but more efficient – 3.6-litre boxer engine mated to a more responsive five-speed gearbox.
The new Tribeca also offers easier access to the optional third row of seats in seven-seat versions of the car.
In addition, Subaru will show-off its first diesel engine, the Boxer Turbodiesel, in Frankfurt. The company claims the engine will offer performance on a par with petrol equivalents as a result of its weight and positioning in a car.
It will initially be offered with Legacy and Outback models from spring 2008, then the Forester and the new Impreza by the end of 2008 or in early 2009.
