Superfuels: are they worth the money? - What does the industry think of the fuel

Ray Holloway, director of the Petrol Retailers Association, said: 'Oil companies are careful with claims about improved fuel economy and performance, and these things do depend on an engine's age and how it is adjusted.

'Premium fuels develop higher temperatures. Hotter fuels generate more energy and should give better performance.

'That said, a motorist who spends most of his or her time revving their engine in high-speed stopping and starting around a busy urban ring road isn't going to notice a difference in performance one little bit.

'If you're talking about economy, it mostly comes down to how a person drives a car.'
