Fiat and Suzuki have teamed up to produce a new pair of small off-roaders which will arrive in the UK in spring 2006.
Suzuki is building the Sedici for Fiat and has called its version of the car the SX4. It will probably cost between £10,000 and £13,500, but we’ll have to wait until nearer the new model's arrival in showrooms for full specifications, final costs, and performance figures.
There are three engines to choose from in the Suzuki – 98bhp or 106bhp 1.5-litre petrols, and a 119bhp 1.9-litre diesel. The petrol engines use a five-speed manual as standard, while the diesel is fitted with six-speed transmission.
Then there are two versions to choose from. The Urban Line has fewer off-roader design elements and, unlike any of the Sedici models, is front-wheel drive.
The Outdoor Line features a four-wheel-drive system which allows drivers to switch between front- and four-wheel drive modes.
The off-roaders are based on a modified Suzuki Swift platform, but are 400mm longer from tip to tail, giving a total length of 4.1 metres.
