This is the first image of the Suzuki Kizashi concept car, which is tipped to be the forerunner of the marque's first mid-range family car.
The concept will be shown for the first time at this September's Frankfurt motor show.
Suzuki hopes it will go into production in late 2009 or early 2010 and that it will help the company break out of the market for smaller cars and 4x4s.
It is bigger than the Suzuki SX4 and, although sales will initially focus on Japan and America, it is expected to go on sale in the UK.
Kizashi is Japanese for foretaste or prelude, a name designed to underline that the concept remains in the early stages of design.
The Suzuki Splash will also be shown at Frankfurt, as well as the SX4 WRC, for competition use in the World Rally Championship.
