Suzuki's goal of producing a family-sized car will take a step forward at the Tokyo motor show, with the latest evolution of its Kizashi concept.
The potential Mondeo rival, which is tipped for launch in late 2009 or early 2010, was first exhibited at the 2007 Frankfurt motor show.
Now the Kizashi 2 crossover concept will be shown in Tokyo from October 26.
The Kizashi 2 five-seater has similar dimensions to the original concept, but its lower roofline and more subdued front grille suggest it is closer to how the car will look in production.
It will feature permanent four-wheel drive and be powered by a Suzuki-developed 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine, linked to a six-speed gearbox.
Suzuki has also announced it will also debut the X-Head concept, which is a cross between a small 4x4 and a pick-up.
It features a mid-mounted 1.4-litre engine and twin-clutch six-speed automatic gearbox. Permanent four-wheel drive underlines its off-road credentials.
Two more outlandish concepts are the PIXY, a three-wheeled, electric-powered single-seater, and the Suzuki Sharing Coach (SSC), which is a fuel cell-powered minicar that seats two. The SSC is designed to carry two PIXYs.
There's also a PIXY-carrying boat called SSJ, and a single-seater racing car that can also carry a PIXY, called the SSF.
