These are the first teaser shots of the BMW X1, the company's upcoming small 4x4.

The picture is taken from a teaser video produced by BMW, which shows only fleeting images of small parts of the car and doesn't give away any technical details.

The concept car be launched in the metal at the Paris motor show on Thursday.

A production version will go on sale in late 2009 or early 2010.
