Three new engines are available in the BMW 3 Series, including a diesel with 282bhp.

The twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre diesel is badged 335d. It's available in the Saloon, Touring estate and Coupe ranges from £32,995.

All three variants cover the 0-62mph dash in under 6.5secs, although the Coupe is the fastest at 6.1secs. Top speed is limited to 155mph across the board.

Despite the performance combined fuel economy is 37.7mpg, while CO2 emissions of 200g/km give the car a home in the 30% company car tax band.

Petrol fans haven't been left out. A new 335i 3.0-litre engine is also given a pair of turbochargers to push output up to 302bhp. The dash from 0-62mph takes as little as 5.6sec in the saloon, while its economy almost reaches 30mpg on the combined cycle.

Top speed is limited to 155mph, while company users will pay tax based on 33% of the car's value on the saloon. Available in saloon and estate bodystyles, the 335i costs from £30,940.

For those with a bit less cash, BMW is slotting a new 325d diesel in between the 320d and 330d in the saloon and estate family. The 194bhp 325d is priced from £27,310 and still manages to reach 62mph in 7.4secs and top 146mph.

Combined fuel consumption is a very satisfying 44.1mpg, while a place in the 24% company car tax band is assured thanks to its low emissions.
