Tokyo motor show - Honda concepts

24 October 2007
Honda is showing off a couple of concepts at the Tokyo motor show, some of it practical, some of it less so.

CR-Z
Chief among the display is a two-seat, hybrid-powered sports car.

Called the CR-Z, the concept car has a glass roof and uses Honda's IMA hybrid drive to lower emissions and improve fuel economy.

Other features include high-visibility door mirrors, LED headlights, fin-shaped sidelights and 19-inch wheels.

Inside, there's a 'blue, neon-like' finish across the dash and centre console, and sporty seats, Honda says.

Puyo
Another concept car on the Honda stand is the Puyo. According to Honda, the Puyo is designed to 'put a smile on the face of users and pedestrians'.

It has a gel body made of soft materials to enhance safety, with lights shining through the gel to highlight doors and notify drivers of the car's condition.

The Puyo is powered by a hydrogen fuel cell, and the transparent materials used are meant to emphasise a feeling of space.

Missing from the Puyo, though, is a steering wheel - instead, you use a joystick to control the car.
