What will actually make it into showrooms? This Sports 4 Concept is no mere Tokyo show flight of fancy – it provides several useful pointers to Honda’s 2008 replacement for the
Accord family car.
Following hot on the heels of the
Civic hatchback, this confirms a bold new design direction for the traditionally conservative Japanese company.
What’s good about it?The sleek looks are the best bit, but it also packs a raft of high-tech gadgets, many of which will make it to production. A glass roof creates an airy cabin, while night vision and a head-up display to project important info onto the windscreen could all be offered on the next Accord.
Maddest car?Got to be the WOW concept car. This barking mad show special is a designer’s far-flung idea of a car tailor-made for dog lovers. There’s even a special compartment, housed where the glovebox normally sits, to transport Fido – and special leash attachments on the B-pillars for tying your dog to.
Anything else? The new FCX concept car is Honda’s latest fuel-cell vision. It boasts a smaller electric engine and energy pack to make more space for passengers – and Honda is developing a home-refuelling system, which doubles up to provide domestic electricity and hot water supply.
