The previous-generation Honda Accord is the most reliable used car, accoding to a new survey

Japanese cars have taken all of the top 10 positions in a new used car reliability survey by independent warranty provider Warranty Direct.

In fact, only four of the top 20 in the 100-strong list of cars aren't Japanese.

The Jaguar X-type, Volvo S40 and V40, Mini and Saab 9-5 manage to find a place in the top 20 - otherwise, it's dominated by Honda, Lexus, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Suzuki and Toyota.

Overall, the previous-generation Honda Accord tops the table, with the current Subaru Forester and previous-generation Mazda MX-5 coming in second and third respectively.

The best effort by a German manufacturer is Mercedes, with its last SLK coming in 25th place.
