Remember the card game Top Trumps, where supercars battled for victory on facts such as top speed, power figures and high cost?

As a sign of the changing times in which we live, a green version of the game has been released.

Now hybrid and electric cars will do battle over figures such as lowest carbon dioxide emissions, fuel efficiency and the highest number of seats.

A pack of the cards will be given to every secondary school in Britain, as part of an initiative part-funded by the European Union, Toyota and Honda.

In addition, packs of the game will be sold on internet auction site eBay to raise money for climate change charities.
