The Toyota FT-86 Open concept car, which will make its debut at the 2013 Geneva motor show in March, shows how a Toyota GT86 convertible could look.
A single sketch of the FT-86 Open has been released. It appears to share most body panels with the GT86; the roof is folded, so it's unclear whether it's made of cloth or metal. A cloth roof is most likely, in the interest of keeping weight, and cost, down.
Any drop-top version of the GT86 is likely to get the same 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine as the coupe. A Subaru BRZ convertible is likely, too - the BRZ was developed alongside the GT86 and there are only minor cosmetic and mechanical differences between the two cars.
Toyota insiders have previously hinted that a GT86 convertible is likely. We'd expect it to go on sale in time for the summer, with a premium of around £1500 over the coupe. That would mean a starting price of around £26,500.
