Toyota launches three special editions

23 June 2006

Toyota has introduced a trio of new special models for the summer in the Aygo, Yaris and Land Cruiser ranges.

The Land Cruiser Invincible is priced at £34,565, so is £1850 more than an LC4-trimmed version of the eight-seater 4x4.

The 3.0-litre diesel engine's power output is up from 164 to 201bhp, which is enough to reduce the 0-62mph time from 11.2sec to 10.8sec. Top speed remains at 109mph, and combined fuel economy is unchanged at 31.4mpg.

The Ion is a new entry-level model for the Yaris range and is priced at £7995, £615 less than the next cheapest T2 model.

Despite the lower price, the Ion has identical equipment to the T2, with dual front airbags, electric windows and mirrors, CD stereo, remote central locking and split-folding rear seats all standard. The car is powered by a 68bhp 1.0-litre engine.

The Aygo Black costs £7730, so is £500 more than the 67bhp 1.0-litre Plus model it's based on. As well as all the standard equipment found on a Plus model, the three- and five-door Black has metallic black paint, alloy wheels and a leather gearknob.

Toyota expects stocks of these cars to run out around September. Don't forget to haggle for a discount on the cars - aim for 6.25% on the Aygo, 7% on the Land Cruiser and 9% on the Yaris.
