US debut for new Subaru Impreza

21 April 2011

  • Bold look for fourth-generation model
  • More kit, more room, better economy
  • Four- and five-door versions due

The Subaru Impreza

Subaru has launched the next Impreza at the New York motor Show.

The fourth-generation Impreza has bolder looks and more cabin room compared with the out-going model. It will also come with a new engine and more equipment when it’s launched in the UK later this year.

UK models will get a new 1.6-litre petrol engine and will be available with either a five-speed manual gearbox or Subaru’s Lineartronic CVT, both of which will beat the CO2 emissions output for the current model. As with all Subarus, the new Impreza will also be four-wheel drive.

Standard equipment will include electric windows and mirrors, while higher-spec cars get alloy wheels, climate control, Bluetooth, automatic lights, and heated front seats and mirrors.

Both four-door and five-door versions of the Impreza will be available.
