The Citroen C5 could make a great used bargain
The Citroen C5 could make a great used bargain
If you're after family transport on a tight budget, why not consider a used Citroen C5.

The C5 was never, and still isn’t, our favourite as a new car. Fast-forward three years, though, and some steep depreciation has made it a bargain.

Three-year-old diesel cars with fewer than 40,000 miles on the clock are less than £7000, and if you’re willing to accept more miles, expect prices closer to £4000.

Our favourite model is the 2.0 HDi VTR+. Its 136bhp is enough for when you need it, and fuel economy figures are kind. VTR+ trim comes with climate and cruise controls, all-round electric windows, alloy wheels, automatic lights and wipers, and dual-zone climate control.

The C5 wasn’t without its faults, though. There are a lot of electrics on the C5, and they are known to suffer from problems. Check everything works perfectly and address any issues with the seller. The suspension is also a weak point. Listen out for juddering or knocking sounds.
