Vauxhall's new Astra Twintop metal-roofed convertible will cost from £16,995 when it goes on sale in the late spring.
The cheapest version uses a 104bhp 1.6-litre petrol engine and comes with four airbags, air-conditioning, a CD player, electric windows and electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors.
Sport trim is available with the same 1.6-litre engine (£17,795), a 124bhp 1.8-litre petrol (£18,295) or a 148bhp 1.9 CDTI diesel (£19,995). Equipment includes alloy wheels, front foglights, trip computer, steering wheel-mounted stereo controls and remote control roof operation.
Another £700 buys a Design model, which is available with the 1.8-litre petrol, 1.9-litre diesel and a 198bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine at £20,695. Larger alloy wheels, automatic wipers and headlights and sport switch for more engaging handling are all standard.
The fixed roll-over hoops of standard and Sport models are replaced by pop-up designs which spring into action if needed.
