Supermini drivers looking for a sporty drive can now add the Vauxhall Corsa SRi to their shopping list.

Slotting into the Corsa range just below the VXR, the warm-hatch SRi has a choice of two engines - a 148bhp 1.6-litre petrol unit or a 123bhp 1.7 CDTi diesel motor.

Both are rapid, with the petrol version reaching 60mph from a standstill in 7.6sec and carrying on to a top speed of 130mph.

The diesel combines a frugal 58.9mpg with a 0-60 time of 9.3sec and a top speed of 121mph.

Both come in a three- or five-door format and are fitted with stability control, 17-inch alloy wheels, sports seats and front and rear spoilers as standard.
