Vauxhall is the new sponsor of the England football team.

Details of the deal had been leaked last week, but has been confirmed by the FA today.

Vauxhall, which builds the Astra at its Ellesmere Port plant on Merseyside, replaces Nationwide, the building society that ended its 11-year relationship with England after the World Cup last July.

It is understood that the agreement with the FA covers the England national team, the women’s team and youth teams right down to grass roots football.

It’s also rumoured that Vauxhall is talking to the football associations of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, potentially making it a clean sweep of home nations.
