Volkswagen E-Bugster

The VW E-Bugster isn't likely to make production and that's a bit of a shame, because the all-electric Beetle has a dramatic roofline that gives the car a more sporty stance.

Instead the E-Bugster is a loose guide to the looks of the forthcoming Beetle cabriolet (it'll get a more staid fabric roof, naturally), a hint at a future Beetle R, and a solid preview of the EV powertrain that'll feature in the Golf Blue-e-motion, due as part of the Mk7 Golf range in 2013.

I found appeal in the E-Bugster that simply doesn't exist for me in the regular Beetle, which makes it an ultimately frustrating creation. How about two types of convertible, VW? A regular-height fabric roof for one model, and a more rakish two-seat speedster' variant?
