Volkswagen Golf GTI pricing
Volkswagen is offering a standard 217bhp model and a 227bhp Performance version. Both cars use the 2.0-litre turbocharged direct-injection petrol engine and develop 258lb ft of torque.
The standard car gets from 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 152mph, while the Performance model hits 62mph in 6.4 seconds and goes on to 155mph.
A six-speed manual gearbox comes as standard on both models, while a six-speed DSG automatic 'box is also available as an option.
With the manual fitted, both versions have average economy of 47.1mpg and CO2 emissions of 139g/km. DSG-equipped models average 44.1mpg and emit 148g/km of CO2 on the standard car and 149g/km on the Performance version. All cars come with engine stop-start.
As well as more power, the Performance model gets larger brake discs and a front limited-slip differential. Performance models are distinguished from the standard GTI by 'GTI' lettering on the red brake calipers. The Performance model costs £980 more than the standard car.
All GTIs get sports suspension, 18-inch alloys, a honeycomb radiator grille, twin chrome tailpipes, LED rear lights and bi-xenon headlights. Inside, there's a bespoke GTI steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, tartan sports seats, a touch-screen infotainment system with DAB and Bluetooth.
Prices start at £25,845 for the three-door GTI and rise to £28,895 for the five-door GTI Performance with DSG transmission. Order books are open now with first deliveries expected in June.
