Volkswagen's new Polo will cost from £10,035, with the first deliveries due in October.
The entry-level model is the 58bhp 1.2-litre petrol. There are a further two petrol engines and two diesel engines available. A five-speed manual gearbox comes as standard.
Four trims are available – S, Moda, SE and SEL.
S trim
Standard equipment includes:
• Electric front windows
• MP3 compatible CD player
• 15-inch steel wheels
• Stability control
Moda trim
VW says Moda is for a 'younger audience' and comes with:
• 15-inch alloy wheels
• Electric front and rear windows
• Front foglights
• USB and MP3 connection cables in the glovebox
• CD player with six speakers
SE trim
SE is the first trim to get air-con as standard – if you want it in S or Moda trims, it's £600 extra.
SE is similarly equipped to Moda, although it misses out on front foglights and MP3 connectivity.
SEL trim
Top-of-the-range cars come with:
• 16-inch alloys
• Alarm
• Front foglights
• Leather-trimmed steering wheel
• Trip computer
• Tyre pressure indicator
Three-door Polos go on sale in December, while super-economical Bluemotion models and a GTI version are due next year.
