Volkswagen Scirocco GTS revealed

This is Volkswagen Scirocco GTS, a special edition of the coupe unveiled by the German manufacturer at this week’s Leipzig motor show.

The Scirocco GTS is a tribute to the original Scirocco GTS, which started production 30 years ago.

It gets coloured stripes that run the length of its bonnet, roof and boot, custom front and rear bumpers, exposed side sills and black 18-inch alloys.

Inside there are bespoke red and black seat materials, plus a ‘golf-ball’ gearknob – a direct link with the original Scirocco GTS.

There are no plans to bring the Scirocco GTS to the UK.

However, at least one of the other products shown by VW at Leipzig has already been confirmed for sales here: the Beetle Fender.

First shown as a concept model at last year’s Frankfurt motor show, the Beetle Fender gets a 400-watt Fender audio system, incorporating a 10-channel amplifier. The interior trim is linked to the guitar company, too; the dashboard is finished in ‘sunburst’ wood, a pattern made famous by the Fender Stratocaster instrument.

The two other cars at Leipzig are the CC R Line, which gets 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, deeper side sills, a new front bumper and chrome trim, and a special edition of the Cross Polo. VW sources say the hotter-looking CC could make it to British dealers by the end of the year.
