Volkswagen Polo buyers can get change from £9500 with the new three-door version that's available to order now.

Prices start at £9435 for the entry-level 61bhp 1.2-litre version in S trim – that's £600 less than the five-door Polo. Air-conditioning is not included, but is a £600 option.

Engine and trim choices are the same as those for the five-door VW Polo, moving up from S to SE, Moda and SEL trims.

Petrol engines include a 71bhp 1.2-litre and 86bhp 1.4-litre, while the 1.6-litre diesel engine is available in 76- or 91bhp versions.

Buyers placing an order now can expect to see their new three-door Polo in January.
