Volkswagen's new Fox city car has been priced from £6595, with sales kicking off on January 16.
The four-seater car is bigger than the Lupo it replaces, and slots beneath the Polo in Volkswagen's family.
Two petrol engines are available in the three-door-only car: a 54bhp 1.2-litre engine and a 74bhp 1.4-litre motor, which costs from £7195, an extra £600. There are no plans to introduce a diesel at this stage.
Standard trim comes with power steering, a CD player, twin front airbags and anti-lock brakes.
Urban models are £800 more expensive and add electric front windows, remote central locking and body-coloured bumpers and door mirrors. Urban cars also come with a sliding 50:50 split-folding rear bench seat, which is available as an option on the entry-level specification for £65.
Options for both trims include air-conditioning at £945, side airbags for £235 and alloy wheels at £565 and £665 for 14-inch and15-inch versions respectively.
