Volkswagen is recalling 73 Passats for checks on the steering.
The manufacturer has found that bolts on the tracking rod of the steering assembly may not have been tightened sufficiently. This could lead to the tracking rod working loose.
Volkswagen is contacting the owners of affected models, and is offering free checks and remedial work.
The affected cars were built between February and May 2005 and have the VIN numbers WVW***3C*6E001368 to WVW***3C*6E033535.
