VW’s new baby - Introduction

22 April 2005
The city car market is getting a lot bigger over the next 12 months with the arrival of a host of new models.

The first to arrive this summer is a trio of cars jointly developed by Citroen, Peugeot and Toyota. Then, early next year, Volkswagen launches the Fox, its own bid for the hearts and pay packet of small-car buyers.

The Brazilian-built baby goes on sale in February from around £6500 for the entry-level 1.2-litre petrol model.

This doesn’t spell the immediate end for the existing Lupo city car, however. The sporty Lupo GTI will continue alongside the latest arrival for some time.
