What Car? guide to hands-free phone sets - Jabra BT160

04 December 2006
Jabra BT160
Cost £40
For Chic styling; top value for money; little background hiss
Against Picks up too much background noise
Verdict Great value for money and stylish

If you're one of those people who constantly fret about having a co-ordinated outfit, consider the BT160. It comes with 33 different coloured covers with all sorts of patterns to ensure that you and your headset always match. The headset's design is not quite as modern as some of the other units in our test, but it's still quite chic and aerodynamic.

It fits around the ear well and is easy to adjust and get comfortable. Once on you won't be concerned about it falling off, and it doesn't get irritating the longer you wear it.

The call-answering button is simple to find with the headset on and the volume buttons work well. Sound quality is merely okay, though: there is little background hiss, but surrounding noise isn't handled well. However, most people should find the performance perfectly acceptable.

You could spend a lot more on a Bluetooth headset, but when you think that this Jabra could be yours for as little as £18 (from some internet retailers), it's hard to go wrong.
